🇺🇸 In August, I was asked if I could coach this team for their new soccer season which ran from September to the start of November. An opportunity I couldn’t turn down as I wanted to get into the coaching scene to gain an understanding of how soccer works here in Atlanta as well as help the team develop over the course of the season. The team competed in the YMCA U12 league playing 8 league games. The boys had a great league campaign finishing with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss which took us into the play offs. Our first play off game was a quarter final which finished 4-0 in our favour which took us into the semi final. The semi final was a very close game but the boys dug deep and won 2-0. The final was again another very close, well contested game but the boys were determined to come out victorious and that they did. A 4-2 win and the Champions of the YMCA U12 League 🏆

At this age, winning isn’t the end goal but there were 2 things that stood out to me getting to work with these boys.

1. Getting to see the team develop each weekend and grow on and off the pitch as well as building relationships with parents over the course of the season was special – what coaching is all about!

2. After the final, the parents and team came together and I got opportunity to thank them for the season. As we stood in the middle of the pitches I was able to share about Coaching for Christ and the vision in the USA, but more importantly, I was able to tell everyone the reason I do what I do isn’t just for the football but that it’s to give Jesus all the glory and honour.

For me this is the reason I’m with Coaching for Christ and believing God has a plan and purpose for CFC and myself here in the States.
